Port Victoria is around 200 km from Adelaide and a 2-hour drive. Port Victoria is located in the central region of Yorke Peninsula, and the jetty is an excellent place for beginner divers because it is very shallow. Ranging up to 5 – 6 metres maximum depth (at high tide), however, it’s great diving for all levels of divers as there are always interesting critters.
It’s an L-shaped jetty with a great variety of marine life, including nudibranchs and sea horses in the smaller end up to schools of larger fish in and around the jetty pylons. Some of the local inhabitants include warty prow fish and tasselled angler fish, both of which are a prized sight for divers.
On the northern side of the jetty is a ramp that makes getting in and out of the water really easy. Just make sure you check the tides, when the tide is very low, the bottom of the ramp is around the water line, so entry is easy but coming out a little harder. On the southern side, inside the L-shape corner, are a set of alloy stairs, which are also well designed and make it easy for divers.
